Security Patrol Program
We partner with Nastec, Inc. to provide patrol services in our area. Armed officers patrol around the clock, with two cars in the neighborhood at night.
Our Nastec officers are trained to protect our neighborhood against crime and to address nuisances. When more than one officer is on duty, each patrols a specific area to ensure rapid response to participants. As we add participants, we add shifts.
Participate for just $100 a month
Benefits
- Call or text to quickly summon armed patrol officers.
- Patrol cars never leave the area, so officers can be on the scene before LAPD or alarm companies can get there.
- Officers can conduct vacation checks and door escorts.
Cost
The cost is $300 per quarter ($100 per month), which covers the association's patrol program expenses. Because the program is volunteer-administered and we must minimize administrative time, we charge participants' credit cards at the beginning of each three-month period following the initial payment.
Before your first payment, you must agree to the Terms of Service.
What to expect
- Within 24 hours you will receive a welcome email with the private patrol service phone number and precise hours. Please do not share this number with neighbors who are not participating.
- Officers will deliver a yard sign, and you can request stickers, magnets and business cards with the patrol phone number.
- If you do not receive the welcome email, write to dspna@dspna.org.
Alarm response
Direct your current alarm monitoring company to notify our patrol service when your alarm goes off during coverage hours.
Eligibility
- You must be a resident, property owner, or other individual or corporation interested in funding the program that operates within the boundaries on the map.
- Membership in the association is not required to participate. Not yet a member? Consider joining. Membership is separate.
Crime affects us all
- LAPD staff reductions have led to longer response times.
- LAPD patrol cars are deployed to other, high-need zones in the city.
- Increased crime and nuisances (party houses, illegal parking, bonfires) threaten the security and serenity of our neighborhood.
Patrol benefits the neighborhood
- Patrol has a deterrent effect and reduces crime.
- A robust patrol service enhances our neighborhood's desirability.
We hope to expand to 24-hour service. Please encourage your neighbors to join so we can have round-the-clock protection.
Questions about patrol
Why do I need this?
LAPD staffing is at historically low levels. Police patrol cars are deployed to high-crime zones and response times may be higher. Response times for non-emergency issues may be extremely long.
Our patrol can also handle nuisance issues such as party house problems, illegal parking and loitering in our area.
I already pay for the patrol service provided by my alarm company. Isn't this just more of the same?
Not at all. During patrol hours, our officers constantly circulate in the neighborhood, so response times are far quicker. Because they circulate here, our patrol is highly visible and deters crime. The higher our subscriber base, the more of this we can provide.
Can patrol respond when my burglar alarm goes off?
You can direct your alarm company to call our patrol service during patrol hours. Our officers will handle the call, arriving more quickly and offering a significant savings versus a police response.
Do I need to be a member to participate?
Membership is encouraged but not required.
Does participating make me a member?
No. Membership is separate. Please join to support our work on behalf of the neighborhood.
Is this a good value?
It is less expensive than many other neighborhood patrol programs, which can cost $300 a month and more.
