Construction Enforcement Committee
Makes sure construction sites understand the rules and community expectations, and educates residents and contractors.
The Enforcement Committee promotes adherence to construction rules and regulations so that our community can be safe, quiet and serene.
- We engage with personnel at construction sites in our area to build relationships and encourage honest adherence to all rules and regulations that govern construction.
- We increase our constituency's awareness of these rules and encourage active participation to support our enforcement priorities.
- We develop programs that drive execution and documentation of violation reporting.
- We engage with City agencies to understand their work and to influence enforcement policies and practices.
To report construction violations or issues, see the FAQ. A list of currently monitored construction projects is on the Construction Monitoring page.
Wins
- July 2019: We worked with the Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) to provide a definition of "construction activity" as cited in LAMC Sec. 98.0602(a), after observing how a loophole to avoid building permits from expiring was being exploited.
- February 2019: We requested an interpretation of what "construction" means from the City Attorney's office as cited in the Hillside Construction Regulation after observing deliveries and other activities before 8 AM. LADBS now has clear direction for code enforcement in our neighborhood:
The preparatory activities that you have identified (including delivery of construction materials, staging, off-loading and setting up equipment) would be considered 'construction' by the Department of Building and Safety (DBS) and could be cited by DBS if they are performed before 8am.
